The Uni-Cup Tableware

A journey into self similar systems. Is it possible to create a fractal in clay? How big is the 32th golden ratio of the earth diameter? Is a fractal based dish system beneficial, or a nightmare for collectors? Martin Geyer and his Uni-Cup.

A new concept of endless development possibilities in tableware unifying global thought and the infinite and fascinating world of fractals. The idea was to construct a fractal in clay. Therefore I created a set of semi porcelain tableware which relates to the Earth as its starting point; this is developed over the 39 iterations of golden ratios of the Earth’s diameter. The global context is evident in this work via the arrangement of the position of the mouth of a cup according to the degree of latitude of international cities. With its net structured surface, city specific colors, and highly contemporary design this tableware will find attention and become not only a collectors dream but also their greatest challenge.

The Uni-Cup Tableware system develops more and more. An Uni-Cup tableware teapot as well espresso cups and saucer are soon available.
